Knitted Together is a creative project founded within the Fatima Groups United (FGU) Arts Programme in Rialto, based in the F2 Neighbourhood Centre and operating from an Arts Studio base on the top floor, overlooking the surrounding community.
This amazing group's project was exhibited in the Mansion House, officiated by the Lord Mayor and the inimitable Joe Donoghue. It was a masterful exhibition and a credit to all involved.
The project and exhibition grew out of the local Stitch and Bitch Club and their experienced textile artist Sadhbh Lawlor. They were also assisted by the Age and Opportunity group as well as Dublin City Council.
Some of the local Artists who worked tirelessly on the project and their individual pieces were: Rita O’Neill, Christina Carlyle, Maureen O’Dwyer, Aine Dempsey, Ann Madden and Martina Wall. Nikki Chatham, a Youth and Community Work student in Maynooth, also gave a hand as part of her placement with Fatima Groups United.
Take a look at their amazing works and admire the vivid reproduction of the memories of the old Fatima Mansions.
