In the past, I was the Independent Chairman of the Labre Park Inter-Agency Committee in Ballyfermot and learned a lot about the developments in a range of areas, not least of which was the role education is playing in the life of Travellers.
So when I received an invitation to go to a fundraiser for the Ballyfermot Traveller Action Project (BTAP) I went without hesitating.
In Ballyfermot, there are schools playing an amazing role in the education of Travellers, and one school was awarded the Yellow Flag for its integrationist policies towards minorities; see http://www.stjohnsdls.ie/ and http://www.itmtrav.ie/keyissues/yellow_flag/.
The girls seem to be able to perform so well they have great third level opportunities open to them.
Please support BTAP in its work for Travellers, and enjoy my pictures below.
