Public spirited action is alive and well in Crumlin.
It's great to see the coming together of the various groups, from Addiction Response Crumlin (ARC) to the 94th Walkinstown Scouts, working together to clean up the various open spaces in and around the Village, in conjunction with the Crumlin Local Area Office of Dublin City Council.
The Village looks remarkably well since the large paving improvements works were carried out. It's amazing to see the herbs and vegetables growing out of the big planters on the pavement. A local expert pointed out the tomatoes and various herbal plants that are planted.
The floral display on the DCC Local Area Office in the Village adds beauty and colour to the building, as does the various little roadside “public” gardens which the clean-up groups concentrated their efforts on. They also cleaned up the busy Village carpark, which is a great asset to shoppers using the local shops.
The clean-up is a very worthwhile exercise and it was nice to see some local politicians getting their hands dirty as they assisted with the work in the company of the local residents.
