I was delighted to be present when the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Emer Costello, officially opened a new state of the art playground at Grattan Crescent Park, Inchicore, on Tuesday June 22nd at 10.30am.
On an absolutely gorgeous day, children from various local schools and centres in the area, including Inchicore National School and The Oblates Crèche were there to experience this wonderful new facility.
Grattan Crescent Park Playground boasts state of the art play equipment, from the Crazy Daisy and the Ladybird Springer for the younger age group to the Starsurfer and the Spinning Bowl for the under 15’s.
“This new facility set in the heart of Inchicore provides a welcome addition to the area. It offers a wide range of equipment and will provide challenging play for the growing number of young children in the vicinity, as well as being a positive social gathering place for the local community for many years to come” said the Lord Mayor.
The opening of the Grattan Crescent Park Playground is an important milestone in furthering the development of Inchicore, and is part of a wider plan to include the development of a linear walkway along the River Camac from the Park to the South Circular Road in Kilmainham, which will provide a safe Green link for both pedestrians and cyclists.
The Grattan Crescent Park Playground was funded by Dublin City Council. The Parks and Landscapes Services Division and the Kilmainham Area Office were both involved in the delivery of the project, and their work shows how good public services can work to improve the life of the community.
