In 1967, the Walkinstown Association was founded by a group of parents and friends in response to a need for community based services for people with learning disabilities.
Joe Connolly was a Labour Party County Councillor and member of Dublin City Council. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends across the city and especially by people in Walkinstown. He will long be associated with the Community Games and the Walkinstown Social and Athletic Federation – both of which he was a founding member.
Well, once again I’m catching up on events in bunches – the past couple of weeks have been pretty hectic. Anyway, a fortnight ago I was delighted to be present when Joe Connolly was honoured with the Lord Mayor’s award.
