It is amazing the transformation that has taken place in Ireland over the last 30 years, where we transformed from a mono-cultural society to a multi-cultural society in such a short historical timespan.
It was my great pleasure to attend the celebrations commemorating the staff and volunteers of the Walkinstown Social Services Centre. The staff and volunteers there have, over a 50-year period, served the elderly and the Walkinstown community in such a professional and human manner that it strengthens our resolve that there is far more goodness in this world than badness.
An amazing transformation has taken place in Bluebell since the provision of the Youth, Ladies and Community Centre.
They say “paper never refuses ink” and “good news doesn’t sell papers”. All the same, sometimes one would get exasperated listening to radio news broadcasts and newspapers portraying young people as causing all sorts of horrors and devastation. I have a huge problem with the constant negative portrayal of young people.
After having to wait years for the half-built apartments to be acquired by Dublin City Council, that long wait has paid off with DCC building a fantastic scheme of wonderful apartments now called Grand Canal View.
