The last time I saw the Harold’s Cross Community Festival was on Sunday 2nd of May 2010 (see article and photo’s under Harold’s Cross). This year’s event was even an improvement on what was a fantastic event then, and to see such a huge gathering of adults, children and families from so many diverse cultures gave us an insight into the beauty of “Community Involvement” which enriches all of us.
Having just left a hugely successful rugby tournament in Terenure Rugby Club, which brought young teams in competition together on the same day as the Harold’s Cross Festival, very starkly brought home the enormous role and contribution volunteers at sporting and community level are making to the overall betterment of our Citizens. Congratulations to all our neighbours who selflessly engage in a volunteering capacity that enlivens and enriches the lives of our communities.
It is worth noting that the Gardai on duty gave their time “free of charge” as their contribution, and of course Dublin City Council, whose staff was involved, were tremendously generous in the contribution they also made. To see the organisation committee who made it all happen co here to their link: Village Community Council.
Some of the pictures of the event can be seen below.
